Our Services | Acoustic Consultants

We are an independent consultancy in acoustics and environmental noise with a difference. Our philosophy is to use acoustics to deliver a better future. We do this using science and creativity in many ways that include environments, buildings, noise and vibration control, and the design of high-quality soundscapes.

Specialist Projects

We work to create healthy soundscapes in and around buildings. We also strive to remove the conflicts that acoustics can cause to sustainable design, and adapt our cities and places of work, recuperation, learning, leisure and relaxation to create positive environments.

We specialise in planning and environmental noise, architecture and building acoustics, vibration, arbitration and litigation, covering all types of buildings and environments.

Every development requires planning permission, and the recent change in legislation to the National Planning Guidance places more value on the quality of the soundscape than ever before. The licensing regime also enables a balance to be stuck for noisemakers and communities, which requires specialist input at times to help achieve that balance. A holistic view of development is needed to achieve results that will stand the test of time as useful contributions to a sustainable future, and acoustics plays a part in achieving that.

The impact of environmental noise has been a major consideration for both developers and planning authorities for some time. They can avoid delays in the planning process if they address noise issues before making a planning application, especially where challenging sites can be enhanced. There is also the need now to consider how mitigation can enhance the quality of life, something where the reduction of noise and improvement of soundscape can play a big part.

Major infrastructure projects will require detailed environmental assessments to be carried out, whereas smaller developments may only need to demonstrate compliance with national and local policies on noise and vibration. Whatever the scale of the project, we work with the planning and design teams to develop the most appropriate and beautiful design for a site. An acoustic assessment of the project in light of the site context is then made to maximise the chances that planning permission will be granted with the minimum delay around noise issues. Unlocking challenging noise-related sites will enable us to live closer to each other and to transportation services, whilst focusing on providing quality environments.
