Sustainable Acoustics wrote a document on behalf of Historic Royal Palaces setting out how proactive and preventative measures would minimise operational noise moving through the third run of summer events at the Tower of London.

This document set out how the organisers could minimise the risk of exceeding the advisory noise criteria for the events, and ultimately prevent causing a public or private nuisance, which is the objective of the agreement with HRP, the Licensing Act 2003 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

This procedure complied with the noise control requirements of the Sound Control Scheme and Measures document for the event held in the Northern moat of the Tower of London, which included the viability of the noise control measures in achieving the targets in the nearest residential, and setting up the noise limiters to achieve the pre and post 23h00 noise levels.

Historic Royal Palaces also required stringent noise conditions to be met within the Yeoman Warders' homes situated within the walls of the Tower of London. Events take place in a marquee that is within 3m of the houses at its closest point, and the arrow slits in the walls allow sound through into the premises with ease. A temporary acoustic enclosure was designed and placed within the marquee, and tight control of bass frequencies was achieved to allow the event to happen without complaint.
